Beloved 'somethings' to replace the Sunday scaries
I love a good pun, and when I wanted to come up with a name for a series of sharing things to help people combat the Sunday scaries I couldn’t resist a pun/ French combo. Chérie translated from French can mean dear, darling, or beloved. I’m creating this series of beloved ‘somethings’ to share each Sunday to help ease the anxieties that may come from approaching a new work week. Whether those somethings are fun, beautiful, uplifting or interesting– I hope they serve as a welcome replacement for worries about beginning the week ahead.
Something practical & chic

COVID infiltrated our household the past couple of weeks, and while our symptoms were relatively mild it wreaked havoc on our daily schedules as the kids had to stay at home while we worked from home. I don’t usually have a lot of time to get ready in the mornings anyway, but with the change in schedule I had especially little time. My secret weapon this week and beyond has been just clipping my hair up with a chic hair claw and this pearl one in particular is lovely and made me feel put together on my Teams calls.
Something whimsy

I have been targeted by all the algorithms and influencers on Instagram with this lamp. Instagram knew I was in the market for a little bebe lamp for my home office area and delivered me this little guy. I’m going for a bit of a different-than-I’m-used-to vibe in my home office with some eccentric art and more colors than I usually use, and the chartreuse version of this lamp (the “khaki” color) with the scalloped lampshade is a perfect match to that. It comes in more neutral colors too!
Something adorable

I think it goes without saying, but Etsy is full of endless treasures. One thing I love to find on Etsy in particular is decor for kids’ playrooms or bedrooms. There are so many beautifully crafted and original items to make children’s spaces magical. Something I recently came across are these fabric letters that are perfect for hanging on a wall in a little girl’s room. They’re made with Liberty London fabric featuring their beautiful and colorful floral prints. I ordered one for my daughter’s room and cannot wait for it to arrive.
Something refreshing
A breath of fresh air free from humidity
I’m not a big summer girl, and am a baby when it comes to hot summer days with a lot of humidity which we had a long stretch of. But yesterday walking outside felt like a huge sigh of relief with a beautiful breeze, no humidity, and temperatures in the 60s that to me just feel perfect. A sign of cooler and crisper days ahead if you like that sort of thing.
Something heartwarming

Don’t cry because the Olympics are ending, but smile because they happened! Like many others I truly soaked up the Olympic games this year, loving the city of Paris as the backdrop and Snoop Dogg correspondence to name a couple of things. But something that stood out to me this year was the raw humanity that I saw across so many events, particularly seeing how athletes’ families showed up for them, cheering them on and immersing themselves in all the competition and hard work and emotion alongside the athletes.
If you feel like crying happy and sentimental tears, here’s a couple moments that got me:
I don’t have any olympians in my family (yet), but I hope I can be/am this supportive of their dreams whatever they are.I’ve also seen a lot of stories about Olympian moms which I adore, some of which this Vogue article highlights. French athlete Clarisse Agbégnénou said, “We can have a life as a woman and mother as well as champion at the same time.” OUI MADAME.

Thank you for joining me in this exercise in combating the Sunday scaries and replacing them with more beautiful & hopeful things–even if they are small. Wishing you a wonderful week ahead.
